Beauty - Go for a 'beauty'-ful Diwali.

Want that extra glow during the festive season? Make-up artist and hair-stylist Meenkashi Dutt helps you look your stunning best!

For a week before Diwali, add lots of fruit and vegetables in your diet. Avoid fats and oily foodstuff. This will help remove toxins from your body and clean your system, making your skin glow with health. Go for face clean-ups and scrubbing. For that extra glow, opt for fruit packs suitable for your skin type.

Diwali make-up should be festive, keeping in mind the brightest hues and shades. Avoid brown make-up.

Day make-up: For a light and soft make-up, use soufflé foundation. Apply heavy kajal and small intricately designed bindi. Give a bright, graceful look to your face with a cream blusher, spread evenly. Use light colour gloss on your lips.

Evening make-up: Go for a heavier make-up now, starting with a heavy foundation. In case your eyes water because of firework-smoke on Diwali, apply bright coloured eye shadows with waterproof mascara and kajal. Use a shimmering blusher with a hint of glitter and metallic lipstick. You can wear a long bindi for a total ethnic look.

Colour Code

  • When wearing blue or pyaazi, go for mauves and pink shades for lips and turquoise for eyes.
  • Metallic shades of burgundy, copper and bronze go best with olive green, orange, rust and maroon coloured attires.
  • Gold eyes and red lips are the make-up codes with red wardrobes.
  • Those with darker complexions should highlight their eyes with kajal and eyeliners. Go for bronze, burgundy and more of earthy colours and avoid red make-up.
